Nitrogen Gas(N2)
General:
Nitrogen is colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable. It makes up 78% by volume of the atmosphere. Nitrogen in gaseous form is transported in cylinders. Liquid Nitrogen is packed in cryogenic cylinders that are vacuum insulated.
Nitrogen has two key properties: 1) It is almost totally inert and intensely cold in liquid form. 2) Under normal conditions, Nitrogen is chemically inactive. It prevents most reactions and combustion from taking place.
Properties
It is inert and non-combustible.
It is intensely cold in the liquid phase.
